Oct. 19 Vada Beach

Julie and Jim had lunch in Mazzolla and then did some shopping in San Gimignano.  Back at the villa, they prepared a beautiful pasta supper with salad, wine, and world famous gelato.

Meanwhile, Recia, Ken, Sue, Linda, Karen, and I traveled to the Mediterranean to swim and picnic at Vada’s famous “White Beach”.    The ocean was spectacular today and we  waded and scoured the beach for glass and interesting stones.  The homemade tuna and egg sandwiches that we ate on the beach, were delicious.  We stopped in Volterra on the way back to the villa to give Karen a chance to buy expensive alabaster at Rossi’s.  This business has been operating since 1912.

Our evening meal, provided once again by chef Jules, was soooooo good!!!!!  We pigged out on gelato for dessert and settled in upstairs for an evening of “bugger bridge” and a roaring fire.
