Monday Oct. 3 - Vincenzo Beach and Cinque Terre

John, Sue, and Pam headed north today for the cliffs of Cinque Terre.  You will hear more about that adventure on Thursday.
Milla, Susan, Jim, Julie, Linda, and myself (Rob) left around noon and traveled south along the coast to a great seaside resort called San Vincenzo.  We dined on the beach and treated ourselves to delicious swordfish, calamari, shrimp, squid, oysters, and octopus.  The water was so warm and clear that we froliced in the Mediterranean for hours.  Some of us collected sea glass, pottery shards and carrera marble.  It was a lovely warm October afternoon.  All of the Italian tourists had left for the summer and we had this paradise all to ourselves.  We decided to return to Volterra around 6 p.m. and stop on the way back to our villa at the Coop grocery store.  Peanut butter and almond milk are nowhere to be found in Italy.  We ended the evening eating cheese, drinking wine, making chicken soup and play uchre.  Oh! I forgot to tell you.  As I was changing into my bathing suit in the parking lot on main street in San Vincenzo, I carelessly dropped my wallet.  When we returned to the car 5 hours later, there, under the wiper blade was my health card, a cheque for $365.00, my visa card, my green card, and my driver's license.  It was all neatly packaged in a blue doggie-doo plastic bag.  I want to send out a giant thankyou to the very kind Italian thief who took my Canadian cash and my son's leather wallet!!
